What Is a Power Weeder?

Power weeders or cultivators are the perfect solution for weeds, unwanted plants and grass. They can be used before planting or right after the crops begin to grow.

They are an alternative to tractors and are suited for work in small landholdings. While a harrow disturbs the entire soil, the design of the power weeder ensures that only the weeds are rooted out, keeping the crop plants intact. The power weeder uses laterally adjustable tines or discs to work between crop rows. It stirs the soil and breaks the clods. The tines fitted on its frame comb the soil deeply in the field.

Attachments such as cage wheels, deep rotary tines, plough and harvesters can be used with the power weeder depending on the purpose for which it will be used. A plough attachment, for example, can be used instead of tines to create a shallow trench for seeding if you need to build rows for intercrop cultivation.
